Courage is to stand up for what you believe

All the heroes, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh they were brave and had courage to fight for what they believed in. They gathered courage to stand up for what they believed in. This is one example from history. However, we have so many heroes around us, who stand up for what they believe in. They become hero because they stand up for that. Not that they have to stand up for something because they are heroes. Why do we say for someone, he is a real hero? Because he did something, which made others to look up to him. Stood up for the cause he believed in. Whether it was when you tried saving a poor child from someone who was being abused or when you showed the way to someone. Everyone has a hero inside. You don’t need to prove it to anyone. Whether someone knows or not, its there and you know it. It is more than sufficient. You do not stand up for yourself because someone is watching you. You stand up for what you believe in because you want to do so. So many times, we think later on “I wish I could have stood up” it is more of guilt. However, if you stand up for what you believe in, you will always feel proud of yourself. So many times we are afraid, if we would speak, it would mess up the things further and actually they were corrected because someone spoke and stood up. If this wouldn’t have been the case, there would not have been any freedom struggle. We would have still been reeling under someone else. Our great heroes believed that India belonged to us only and they stood up against everything and everyone and got us freedom. They did not have to do this to prove it to anyone. They did so, because they believed in this. We fight for pocket money from parents because we believe it is our right and we should get it. This is one small level of what we believe as a right to us, now consider a bigger level. When you are in school, someone is bullying you and you know it, it is wrong, so you stand up against that, that’s courage. If you do not stand up against this right now, whole life someone will be bulldozing you. In college, in office, always.

When I was working in Bangalore, there was a girl in my office. If she did not like something, she would always speak, instead of bearing things quietly. She always stood up for what she believed in. Gradually everyone started looking up to her, that she would speak for them too. She raked up the hero inside her. However, when she could speak for what she believed in, why couldn’t others. Why do you have to look up to someone else to speak on your behalf? If some one can speak for ownself and for you, even you can be your own voice. You do not need clutches. You also have the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Even if it means people are laughing at you or they are calling you publicity hound. You did what you believed was right. After that, let everyone think whatever they want to. Everyone is the king of own free will
