Personification of God

sheetalUncategorized

We personify everything. We personify mountains, rivers, sea air, water, earth, fire, stars animals, trees, wealth, knowledge and pretty much everything so that we have a form and a shape to that. We give them the names of different Gods and Goddesses. We say Laxmi is the Goddess of wealth, its Himalayas Dev, Its Agni Dev, its Surya Dev, Chandra Dev and so on. We personify them and worship them in different forms. Scientists would have own theory, they would also personify them by giving names like moon is a satellite, they would explain the composition of everything however, would not worship and things which they cannot explain, they will call them paranormal, supernatural etc or would explain them as beyond science and we all accept that there is a lot beyond science which cannot be explained in written language of experts.

Above all we personify this existence and say that God has Nirakar Roop and Sakar Roop. Where Nirakar is form without personification and Sakar is a personified form. Sometimes I have heard that I saw the God in Nirakar form and now I am looking for Sakar form. I do not understand the difference. However, the question is why do we have to personify everything we see around us. The answer is very simple, if we personify, it is simple for us. We know it, it is there. If we say everything is God, you cannot relate with God then. However, if you say, Laxmi is the Goddess of wealth, when you want wealth, you know you have to worship Laxmi or students are suppose to worship Saraswati. You will not have to get into intricacies of understanding the connection. It becomes as simple as you have a God, you have a temple or a place of worship, you offer something and you get in return. No efforts required or hardly any hard efforts required. It is as simple as that, we personify and we relate with that. We cannot relate with something which we do not know if it is there or not, we can relate with something if we see it around us. We personify and see the place of worship around us and we can relate with it very easily. To establish that relation, we personify God and we personify everything around us to establish that connection.
