One lady was in the 60s and smiling. She started from a very humble background and she had made it big. She was successful. She was the CEO of a big multinational company. She had built a big house for herself. Her children were studying and living in the US. Her husband had own business. So I asked her, what is a success. Is it all the wealth you have built or the family you have made or what is success? What gives you peace?
She invited me to her center. So she had few employees, who were working for slum children. These children were giggling and playing and studying. There were some old people who were correcting their specs as they had their eye surgeries. Then, there were ladies, who were making things to be sold in the market. She smiled and said that this is a success for me. I pay them a good amount, not small salaries so that they can carry out tasks, which no one is doing. This is a success for me. I have been able to uplift this entire section. Old have eyes to see, children are studying, women are safe and are living with dignity. I can see others smiling because of me. I have been waiting for this day, since the time I am born.
I realized, she was standing there like a parent or a mother. For a mother, success is when her child is happy. Same way, for God, he is successful, when his creation is happy. I could see the same divinity in her. She had everything and we all earn and make it big. But do we have that peace inside us? Do we have the satisfaction of living?
I cannot say, what is a success for everyone. We all define our own success. But when I met her, I felt she was truly successful.
