Give a listening ear to loved ones. Sometimes this is all they need.

One mother called up. Her son has been married for 10 years and every day situation is getting worse at her house. As per her, her son is supporting his wife more and not supporting her enough. Then she shared that even they have lots of fights. Then where is he supporting his wife? She did not have an answer. If they have fights, it means he has been telling her many things for which they have an argument about!

But then why does he come and shout at his mother too? Well, his glass is full and his stress is coming out like this! When the kids were small, and she had a fight with her husband, on whom did she take out. She took it out on her children. So at that time, if she could take it out on kids, now when they are grown ups and have own stresses, they can implement the reverse process. So it means, he is under stress too?

So she spoke to him and she realized that he was under lot of stress. He felt that no one understood him. He felt like killing himself many times. He did not know to whom to talk to. He broke down and kept crying for an hour. HE shared many things and finally he started sharing lighter things. They hugged and he was feeling much lighter. She realized after he got married, they had stopped spending time with each other. After that day, they spoke a lot. And they spoke many times. He did not have to shout at her after that.

We do not know what our loved ones are going through. Given them a listening ear. Sometimes, this is all what is needed. Do not judge. Do not hold grudges. Love them, understand them and let them know you understand them!
