India is a land of lots of customs and beliefs. Somehow, with these customs along came lots of fears. If you do not do this, this will happen, if you do not do this way, something bad will happen. God will be angry on you. But then I always felt like God is saying, I am like your parent. How can he harm me if he is my parent has always been my question. Parents are never angry on their kids. Even if they slap, they have best intentions in their hearts. They can never harm their child. Then how can God, to whom i am serving with love will harm me, even if I have forgotten one or two customs. This cannot be my God. My God is love, not fear. Always loving me, supporting me, guiding me, taking care of me. Every moment, in the moment of moment he is with me, inside me, around me, in my breath and in everything i do. How can he harm me. When I told myself this, this was such a big freedom. It liberated me from all the fears which I was getting while following customs.
Then I asked myself next thing, what is reaching to God when I am serving him. Ideally I am serving either people or an idol. Then I realized what’s reaching is my feeling and intentions. If my intentions are pure of love, I am sending all the love to him. But if my intention is fear or some trouble, ideally nothing is reaching him. So if I am giving love, I am receiving love.
All the thoughts which are of fear actually are thoughts of ego. We think from ego perspective and we feel that even God is thinking from ego perspective. But we need to know, we have ego, God does not have ego. God only has love. All his beings have only love. So how can they get angry or give us fear, when they do not have that. They all have just love for us.
