Often relationships are sacrificed on the altar of ego. People would keep arguing, sometimes even after realizing that it’s hurting the other person, it is costing them their relationship, still they continue. Now you may win the argument but you will lose the relationship.
So many times, people go to any length to prove they can do it and that had been instigated by someone else. No senses are working at that time. Just ego!
People get into big fights in which they know they are going to get hurt to prove their ego point.
We all know, how ego can play havoc.
A father called up, who was on death bed and was missing his son. He shared that how they had fallen apart because he chose his career and after that they never spoke. I asked him to give a call and call him home and his first response was why should I. The answer is because he is his son and he does not want to go from this world holding ego and missing his son. Would he able able to rest in peace?
A lady was separated from her husband for 2 months and really wanted to come back. But whenever he called up, she would bring old issues and tell him to seek apology. They would end up fighting and this kept on going for 2 years. He filed for divorce saying she really never wanted to reconcile.
He was revengeful and he wanted to take revenge on his elder brother as his elder brother bossed him a lot during childhood. He started sabotaging his brother’s business (Which is again ego) and using his own business’s resources. After 5 years, he ended up damaging both.
We all have ego and love inside us. It is like we have God and devil. When we operate from ego, we let Devil do his work. When we operate with love, we let God guide the way. We need to choose, who shall be our guide. Definitely, if we choose ego, we will fall. Ego will make us weak and fragile. Love will make us strong.
Follow love.
