A few years back, I was a part of a family gathering, or let’s say a party. I was feeling out of the place. I do not eat late at night, I do not touch alcohol and I like my peace. So I was standing in a corner, sometimes chitchatting, if anyone came around. It’s not that they do not love me, they do and that’s why I was there. But everyone was busy. So my one cousin came to me and tried pulling me into the crowd. I said, no, I am good here and I would not be comfortable. She said it’s one life, please enjoy it. And I did not know at that time the meaning of one life. Many times I have heard this phrase “ONE LIFE” and it made me wonder what is this one life.
I asked God what is this one life and when you ask the question you get the answer.
I was standing in the middle of the park under a a tree and I saw a bird preparing a nest. Yes, this is what she was doing with her life. Then I saw a gentleman distributing blankets to poors, this is his life. One lady was teaching on the road to slum children and it was her life. Then one lady stepped out of the car and her driver pushed aside children and asked them to go away from car. He was ruthless and then lady made a bad face towards these children and it was her life. Yes, I saw everything in next 10 minutes. And we use this phrase also many times that it’s their life.
YEs, everyone has own life and what we do with ours matters a lot. We cannot say, he is doing this, that is just a justification of something which we are doing or not doing. What is the most important thing which we would want to do with our lives?
I sat and thought I realized, I had few things. I wanted to be healthy till the last day of my life. But why i wanted to be healthy. So that I can keep doing my work. So I wanted to work till the last day of my life. So my first thing was to do lots of work. My mom laughs sometimes that have you come here to work. God has written so much work in your destiny. Or may be she does not know, I asked lots of work. The second thing which made me happy was, when I serve others. When I selflessly help someone. It makes me feel I am of use. I am being useful to God or at least to some part of this Universe. Yes, serving others.
These two things made me who i am. And this is what I want to do with my one life.
