So what is freedom? When we can do something as per our own free will. Do we actually do that? Don’t we have so many rules and regulations? Don’t we have so many unwritten norms? Don’t we have a code of conduct at every place? So where is the freedom? You want to scream in the library and you cannot as the norms say there should be a silence there. So where is the freedom? Your freedom does not mean that you encroach other’s freedom. Everyone has the right to freedom. For your own freedom you cannot enslave others. If you want to talk aloud in library, others will be forced to listen to you and they will not be able to do what they want to. Indirectly you are making them your slave in which they are bound to listen to what you are talking against their own wish. So one’s freedom does not mean others slavery. Freedom is the state of being free from boundaries. You do not have to live in limits. You do not have to limit your actions to what others are doing. You do not have to limit your personality to what others are. You do not have to become Mahatma Gandhi. You do not need to become Bhagat Singh or Sachin Tendulkar. You have all the freedom to be yourself. Our parents do force us, you need to become like her/him. This way they are making our wishes a slave of someone else’s personality. You have the freedom to choose what you want to do and what you want to be. And when you do this, you know you are born for this. This is finally what you want to do. You start choosing instead of accepting whatever has been offered. If you want to be someone else, you keep accepting what ever has been offered to you, whether it is a job or a role. Who accepts whatever is offered, is a beggar. So in a way, everyone becomes a beggar and a slave. However, if you become yourself, you start choosing for yourself, you become own master. As there is no one to give you orders. Even if you are doing a job, but you chose it because you wanted to do so, you are reporting to someone, still you are your own master as you chose it and you do not need instructions to do it. It comes from with in you. After you reach a stage of self mastery, you are absolutely free from any kind of slavery.
Many would question this, there are so many people we still need to listen to, we need to obey ….etc. However, they are just the arrangements. The Arrangements to run the operations of this world smoothly. When you have expressed your free will you are free. However, you need courage to express your freedom. We all are conditioned to be slave, slave of family and society. We want to become doctor, because parents wished so. We have to speak like this, because we have been taught to speak like this. This is not freedom. Though we all are citizens of this free world and a free nation, still we are enslaved to many like society, family, peers and everyone around us. However, we still can be free and can adhere to everything whatever we have been conditioned for, what we need is a courage to express, we need to overcome all the internal fears. We need to gather courage to break the boundations. We need to be courageous enough to become oneself. It is easy to say I am like so and so person. My ideal is so and so person. I want to be like my father. I feel like it is is shedding of your responsibility. By responsibility I do not mean you are not a good citizen or a son or a daughter. It is responsibility towards ownself. Responsibility of being yourself. This is the biggest responsibility and it gets buried and lost under all other big responsibilities and we never get time to even think about it. All the elders have been very careful in over burdening us with so many things. Because they knew that if everyone tries to become oneself, they will not be required as when you become own master, you do not need any rules and regulations. You will become absolutely free.
So to break all these chains you need to gather up courage as you will have to stand up against whatever has been taught to you up till now and then only you can be yourself.
It is very easy to be a slave and very difficult to be a master. Being a slave you do not have your own responsibility as it becomes very easy to pass it own to others i.e. to your family and society. However, when you become your own master, it increases your responsibility by many folds. You are responsible for your own actions. If you fall you are responsible, if you rise and fly, you are responsible. However, a truly free person would enjoy every moment of being oneself as when you are falling you are still yourself. When you are flying you are still being yourself. Whole life becomes enjoyable when you gather up courage to become yourself and master of own free will. Then you will never be bored and you will never have to find a way to ventilate or to enjoy as you are enjoying every moment.
We all search for a life partner where we can be self, we do not have to wear a mask, however, if we gather courage to become oneself always, we do not have to go and hunt for anything. We would always enjoy being whatever we are. Life will be very less complicated and relaxed.
