A teacher learns more when a student asks a question which the teacher doesn’t know. My favorite students these days are my girls and they are forcing me to learn and think. So they asked me, mamma, where is God and the answer is the God is in our heart. (I tell them this thing since the time they are born and when they need God, they shall always ask in their heart what they shall do). If he is in our heart, why do we need to goto temple? And if God is one, then why do we have so many names? Why do we go to so many places. I wondered at the question coming from them at such a tender age. And I loved the question.
Let’s go to the root. Does God exist in temples? Yes, and does God have so many names and the answer is yes. God is the purest form of energy. It’s the divine part. He is our highest part. If we reach our highest energy level, there is no difference between us and God. Ego has created this duality that we are different from God or anyone else. Love dissolves this duality. So we become one with God, when we are able to shed our ego and we become love. More and more we are in the form of love, more and more divine we would feel.
But then why do we need to go to temple?
Till the time, we are unable to see the divine part within ourselves, the love inside us, we feel the ego which we do not realize, we need temples because this duality keeps us separate and this duality gives us need of the places where we feel he exists. If ego makes us feel superior, ego also makes us feel lesser. When we reach to a place of worship, we feel we have reached to a safer place because God is superior. He is but then everyone else is, if they have reached to that level of love. When we reach to a temple, we can see the reflection of own divinity there and we start feeling divine ourselves.
But how do we feel when to reach to a bad place?
God and Devil or good and bad both are inside us. Let’s say one is the highest self, then another one is the lowest self. With the choices we make, we can reach to any level we desire. When we reach to a bad place there also we see own reflection and we start reaching to that level.
So shall we reach to a good place or bad place?
It is our choice and path to walk. Deep down, we know which will take us where. If we want to reach to the higher part, we need to travel that path. But if we want to reach to the lower level (Which ego does not let us feel) we need to travel that path.
Can we rely only on the God in our heart and not goto a temple?
It is again our choice and path to travel. But then why do you want to go to a pub or a party place? Why don’t you do sitting everything at home? Because there you have a collective environment and you feel you have more fun. Similar way, when you go to a temple, you have a collective environment there and you will have more divine (Shall we call it). To experience that collective divinity, we go to a temple.
