One gentleman said that I have earned a lot and I am earning a lot. I was listening and wondering why he was sharing this with me. He said that I want to make some charity and I am not sure where to do it. I told him, there is so much need around and it is a noble thought to think like this. You can take a walk on the road and start helping. You can choose any organization and donate. You can donate on red light or you can donate to children studying in slums. Or you can keep the money and when there is a big need like natural disaster, you can send all money there. You can utilize it the way you feel like it. He started ruling out the options like the children at red light are under the Mafia control, slum kids eat tobacco, the NGOs do not give to the needy and many things like this. After listening to him, I told him that this way he would never be able to make any contribution. Anyway, it is his decision. I asked him his plan for the evening and he said that he is was meeting in a club with his friends and they have a plan to party all night. After the he forgot about the contribution and we started talking about work. While walking out I felt we are so selfish. When we ask from God, we do not want to be judged. We feel it is our right. We do not spend as per his desire. We may or may not but who decides. We spend on weapons, we spend on clubbing, we spend on drugs and alcohol, we spend on hurting each other and yes we do spend on ourselves but when we are giving it to someone, we want to make sure every penny is properly utilized.
We give love with judgement, if he does this for me, I would love him back, if he is this I would do this, we give money with judgment, whatever we are giving, we are giving after judging but when we want to receive, we want to receive we would not like to be judged. We forget that we have also received it from the source and it has come for a purpose. When we receive, we feel it is our right to spend it the way we want it but the person who has received from us should also spend as per our desire. So is it possible both ways? So what shall we do?
1. Give without judgment based on your intentions and love.
2. Follow your heart and feelings. If from inside you feel that you must help here then you must
3. Give with absolute detachment. No ego that I have given this or it should be spent the way I want it to be
4. Do not give for negative cause like if you know it will be used to harm someone else but you cannot control everything. If you have prior knowledge then do not give otherwise do give.
5. Give with no expectations of returns from the person or the Universe. It is no trade. ( Makes me wonder why are we trained since child hood to think like it would return many folds or it would earn us some good deeds etc.)
