A gentleman asked, what is self realization? How do I attain that?
A: When you know who you really are.
But how do I know that?
You need to ask this yourself rather than me, that who i am. Still, we have lots of guidelines on that. Especially in Bhagwad Gita we can see the guidelines. Bhagwad Gita says that the aatma inside us is the part of Parmatma and this Atma is who we really are and when this atma meets parmatma, it’s true self realization.
This is what the book says. But then what do you say?
I am no one to say different. However, this journey is like you can read 100 books on swimming but you learn swimming when you jump into the water.
So from where shall I start?
Look within. This journey is about reaching into light that’s already within. We have both darkness and light within. For example, when we are in a situation, we get both negative and positive thoughts. We need to choose the right thing every time we go through that. When we choose the right thing, we choose the light. For example, you have a tough situation at home and you have your friends money, would you use it without his permission? Even when you have 100% intention of returning it back. It is somewhere wrong because he has given it with trust. So you shall use it with his permission as it’s his thing. Your servant played mischief at the end of the month. And you hadn’t paid his salary yet. You have the power to pay his salary or not at that time. At that time what would you do? You can choose the right thing by paying or wrong thing by not paying. When you choose the right thing, you strengthen the light within.
You know we need to help others. But when you judge you cannot. You can simply choose love ad help. You have the need and the other person has the need too. You can choose. You have a servant. You can choose to talk with love and respect. But with ego, you choose to talk with arrogance. You are choosing darkness.
Living with virtue is not an option. It is a necessity. On every step, you choose light and you will see the difference. Also, ask, what shall be my next step and you will get the answer within.
Q: What is the final step?
You will become one. Atman meets parmatma. This atma is parmatama. The oneness comes when we realize, there is no difference. We have always been one. We realize we are the one. We have the same power of creation and destruction. Use this power of creation to create a better world. To create a new creation.
