One gentleman was always helping people. But no one liked him. He always spoke to people with disrespect to whom he was helping. He always told them, how his help had helped them. Sometimes, people got hurt very badly and they wanted to return the help too. He wondered why people did not like him? When he was asking this, I recalled the story which I am shared I have written multiple times before.
Once Arjun asks Krishna, I also give lots of charity but why Karan is so famous? So krishna loves to demonstrate and creates a mountain of Gold and says, go and distribute it. So Arjun sends invitation to the villagers and they start queuing up. He starts giving them as much as they wanted and by evening it was like the whole mountain was still pending to give it away. Arjun could not finish it and villagers had to wait for hours.
Next day, Krishna creates another similar mountain and asks Karan to distribute it. So Karan also sends invite to the villagers. When they come, he makes and announcement and says take as much as you want. Saying this, Karan steps aside and villagers start taking Gold happily. IT was finished in no time.
So krishna explains to Arjuna. You can see that you could not finish and Karana’s mountain got finished in no time. His giving has no ego. Your giving has an ego. When you are giving you feel, I am doing. But for Karan he is no one in between, I am doing and I am taking. That’s why he is more famous.
When we serve we need to have same attitude. If we would have an attitude, that I am doing this or we would hold an ego, there would always be a problem. But if we serve anyone, with love and gratitude and as an opportunity to serve God, the God will reside in the service. Be grateful, when you serve. Whether it is helping someone, making a charity, serving family or anyone. Coming from the point of ego, will always have something holding us back. Coming from love and gratitude, we can serve it all.
