We all love our children and we all love them from the depth of our soul. We want to give them all, we want to do everything for them and this very thought creates fears and it really tires us. I do not know what all we want to do for them and we want them to be best, we want to do best for them.
BUT we end up giving frustration, stress and may be worst part of us. because the small humans we are dealing with are vulnerable in front of us. They cannot answer back, they cannot retaliate back they cannot slap us back so we end up taking it out all on them. So many times, I have seen parents shouting at children just because they were not listening to them. Why do we have this thing that our children should listen and behave and obey us? Why do we want them to obey?
We can train them on manners and many things but I really wonder, why do we want them to obey? Why do we have this thing in mind that if we have said something, they have to follow that? We can desire their best but they are not our property. They are individuals in right now small but growing up body. And when they stop listening or obeying, our first thought is, now they are grown up, so they do not have to obey, now they have mind of their own. But let me tell you, with my experience, they always have their mind. Just that when they grow up, they learn to overcome that fear and respect of talking back. When they were small, they always had that unknown fear of we parents getting angry or something like that. So they keep quiet. I saw my daughter’s mind when she was just three months old. I was crossing her cot, we exchanged a glance (I feel she thought i will pick her up) and I did not and when i did not pick her up, she started crying because that is the language she knew. Similarly, on many occasions, when they were just few months old, I saw them observing, trying to tell me something for that.
babies, kids, everyone always has mind and emotions like we all have. They just have little less ego and more love than us.
So please do not take out your stress, frustration on them. Follow their wish as well. Do not wish them to follow all your commands. Do not command them. let them grow and blossom. Nurture them with love. Do not just raise them. Let them be a flower of love spreading their fragrance of love everywhere.
