I had a lot about pregnancy cravings. Elders had shared that someone even can crave mud pot or wall paint. Someone craved Halwa(Indian pudding), someone craved ice cream etc. I did not crave anything. I wondered if I had no taste in life. But then I spoke to my doctor and she started laughing. When I had conceived, I had taken diet chart from the doctor and I strictly followed that. So my nutrition needs were totally met by the diet she had prescribed. So my doctor said that our body craves for what it lacks. For example, if someone is craving mud pots or wall paint, they may be lacking calcium. If someone craved for halwa, they might be lacking carbs and everything is like that. Now, because the nutrition need was not met properly, body tries to meet those need in one or other way or whatever it sees around. BEcause you strictly followed the chart, you did not crave.
One year back, I felt like eating more spinach and tomato salad. I occasionally ate that. After two months I felt some pain in the abdomen and when I got tested, it was PCOD and tomato and spinach are healthy for that. One day I had a dream. I say there were cuts in my intestines and when I woke up I felt pain in my stomach. And then the doctor advised me to switch to total bland food for 15 days.
I have so many examples, where I felt a signal from my body and felt that body is talking and it had turned out true. If we really want to be healthy, we need to start listening to the body signals. We must follow that. If it’s asking us to eat a particular food or stop eating something, if it’s asking us to take a walk, if it’s asking us to start exercising, then we must follow yoga. If your mind is asking to make a change in the environment, then change it. If you are feeling like bringing more plants at home, bring them. Talk to your body or at least listen to your body. You will be able to understand your body and health more.
Have a happya nd healthy life.
