She was having lots of problems in managing her relationships. Her 12 years old son tried hitting her. She broke down. She wondered where she had gone wrong. She was doing everything for her family.
But then which was not ready to accept also was her ego. Which was not letting her see her fault. She always believed in one thing that no one could say anything to her. But what she did not realize was that her son also picked up the same thing from her. He also started believing in the same thing. So he slapped her when he was 12. Once he was not listening to her, and then she did not listen to him, and he slapped her. She was nurturing her son, and then she was nurturing her ego and one day that became like a thorn tree which pricked her.
We have both love and ego inside us. Love heals us, ego pricks us. When we nurture love, everything is healed. When we nurture love, we nurture the divine. How do we nurture love?
First, it needs to be a conscious decision. Then anything which is done to satisfy your own ego or insecurity, then anything is done to satisfy other’s ego or insecurity is ego. Someone is giving charity so that he would get praise is nurturing ego. One is throwing a big party to show off is ego. Scolding a child just because he asked something as it rattled you is ego. Not doing things keeping other’s hearts also into consideration is ego. Doing things just to hear good things about yourself is ego. Putting other’s lives or respect in jeopardy for their own benefit is ego. Not accepting your own mistakes is ego. We know it when it’s there.
So what is love?
First off we know iot when we are doing something genuinely. Love will keep the highest interest in heart. Like Buddha said, when you like a flower you pluck it. When you love it, you nurture it. Like came from ego. I liked it, so I shall have it. But when you love it, you will think that what’s best for the flower and plant.
Nurture love and you will keep nurturning divine.
