I am feeling so hurt, my son did not take care of me, my friend said this to me, my husband did not remember my birthday and the list of the things is endless which hurt us have hurt us in the past. now lets dissect these few examples one by one, you had thought that your husband should remember your birthday and when he did not you got hurt. you thought your son should take care of you and when he did not you felt hurt. You thought that your friend should act in a particular way and when he/she did not you felt hurt. Now , whatever thoughts you have is your responsibility. They are not the responsibility of the other person, so how can they hurt you? You are hurt because you had thought in a particular way nd when things did not happen the way you had thought you felt hurt, so who is hurting whom here? I guess its you who is hurting yourself as you have fixated yourself on thinking in one particular way, so your way of thinking or your thoughts are hurting you. If you would think that it is fine if someone is not acting as per you because everyone is the king of own free will and even God does not interfere in anyone’s free will and who are you to do that by expecting others to act as per your thoughts, then you will never get hurt. So no one is responsible for hurting you other than your own thoughts. If you change your thoughts by assuming that in this world these are the norms everyone should adhere to, then you would stop hurting yourself.
