2 days back someone called me up early in the morning and said that he is the editor from some newspaper. He said that I appear to be young and do I think I have learned enough to teach others. I just wanna know one thing, first, what age has to do with learning and second thing, when does the journey end? Life teaches us a lot on every step and every day is a learning day. Its life, it happens to everyone sooner or later and I would say sooner the better, atleast we have time to resurrect. We all get to learn lots of lessons in life, however, how much we retain depends on the individual. Sometimes, small things in life teaches you so much, you just need to have an open mind to see those lessons. I was looking at a small child for few days and in all his small childplays, he was so inquisitive about everything around him to explore and learn about the world. As we grow, we think we have learned enough and we get contended in life so eventually we stop learning. Experts say that 90% of the learning happens in initial 5 years of life and the main reason is that after that we start thinking that we have learned enough so we don’t need to learn more. However, if we keep our learning trait intact through out our lives, just imagine how much learned we would be.
There is no harm or ego in learning from anyone, even a small child who is begging on the road side has full potential to teach us. How hard he is working, to get his work done, he gives you a smile, sometimes to gain sympathy he makes faces and aren’t these the lessons everyone needs even in the board rooms? Life teaches you more than any book can. Lessons of life are imprinted on your soul and from the book are on just on the temporary memory. Do not forget the book is also written by someone after experiencing something, so a book cannot teach you more than life. I am definitely not against reading, I love reading and have a big collection of books a book also is the collection of someones experiences and you can get to know about someone’s experience of 20 years in just 3 hrs, not bad. However, again its important that how much you retain. Learn the lessons from life and retain well and move on..that’s how we are suppose to grow.
