It is good to give yourself a break and rest. We all need mental, physical and emotional rest.

There was a lady. Working kind of round o’ clock for the family. If she rested, she felt bad. However, she had to rest also because her body needed rest. We all need. When she rested, she felt guilty and that’s why she could never rest properly. She was a teacher in a school, waking up early, running, taking care of things at home and then in school, by the time, she would settle down everyone and everything, it would be very late. No one realized how tired she was. She did not tell anyone. (Generally humans are not designed to see something until they are told). Because she was guilty of taking rest, she never rested properly.

Moreover, our bodies are not same everyday. Somedays we have lots of strengths. Some days we have less strength. Somedays, we are full of energy and somedays, we have to make an effort to lift our bodies. So may be we do not need rest on those stronger days and we would need rest on lesser strength days. And as we grow old those fluctuations, gaps and everything would increase. We cannot say that I could work for 24 hours for 7 days a week and now, I am unable to. It is like a car. When it is new, you take it on any terrain but when it’s old, it needs more repair and maintenance and still you can’t take it on tougher terrain.

So I asked her, if you keep working for three days, would your productivity increase or decrease and the answer is later one. And if you take rest, you can do more work in lesser time. She accepted. Similarly, our mind is. If we keep stressing it out then it will slow down. It will not perform. It will not be able to do it’s functions properly like even speech starts slurring, coordination of hands get disrupted etc. So it needs break and rest.

take rest, take rest happily. Take rest fully. Take rest without feeling guilty. Honestly, I cannot stand lazy people. As per me, Earth is a land of Karma and we are here to to our karma. If we are not, we are failing our purpose. But to do that also, we need to retreat. So give yourself proper rest when you need and do not feel guilty about that.
