So many times, while explaining about someone’s character I have heard especially in India that he/she is a God Fearing person. So what does it mean, you are doing good because you have fear of God or you can say you are afraid that tomorrow you will be punished for your wrong deeds.
Now let’s assume, there is no God to punish you and whatever you do, this nature, this existence also will not punish you or your Karma will not come back to you in a bad form, nothing bad will afflict upon you, so what would you have done in that case? What would your conscience have said in that case? That is your real character!
Do not do something because you are afraid of Karma or God, do something because that is the right thing to be done and that is what your conscience is asking. If you do something out of fear you will always be fearful and have suppressed feelings, you will never be able to know what exactly you could have done, you will always be fearful of the existence and surroundings like someone is watching you all the time, do you want to live that life?
Just be fearless, be yourself and do the things because they have to be done that way not because you are afraid of future bouncing back on you.
