A mother of five years old asked me that what is the one quality I need to train my child on. I told her, everyone needs to be trained on kindness and love. We all need to be kind and loving for self and others. It’s a necessity to be human. Without that, I do not even consider that we are entitled to be human also.
What about honesty?
He will be honest, if he will be kind. A kind person will always take care of good things.
What about hardwork?
What if he is ruthless or brutal or rude but very hardworking and reaches to a good level in life.
What about good in academics?
Why do you want him to excel in studies? Because you want him to be happy. But if he hasn’t learned kindness for self, how will he be?
So what do we mean about being kind and loving?
Absence of lie does not mean we have presence of truth. Absence of bad behaviour does not mean one is kind. We need to be kind and loving in various roles we are playing. First of all the person who deserves our kindness is self. We need to stop criticising self and we need to be little liberal for self rather than looking for a perfectionism always. We need to forgive ownself also. Similarly, we need to be kind as a father, as a husband, as an employer and so on. Where we understand other’s pain, work on happiness with love, we try to support each other and be there for each other.
Often it happens is that we are bad to someone and then internally, we enter into such a conflict where we try to put a bad face to every thing to prove what we did was right. Or when we do not help anyone, we again create a picture, why it is justified not to help. So we need to let ourselves flow freely for everyone around, so that we can be as loving as we can be. Only then we can be learn to be happy.
