Met a man, who had won many battles in life. With battles, I do not mean on the battlefield. What I mean is the battles of life. We all face many challenges. Life makes us go through different challenges from time to time like a relationship, money, health and some are spiritual challenges. After we have dealt with the basic level challenges, life throws bigger challenges. Where we have to choose between love and darkness. Every small decision which we make inside helps us in moving towards love and fight the darkness. So he had fought many small battles, which we also keep fighting. So he said that every time, he faced a small battle inside, he chose love and with that, he felt better and he kept moving towards the light. If there was a beggar, he asked what is love and he chose to help. If he had to help a friend, he chose love. If he had to forgive, he chose love.
So I asked him, what if the person has done wrong to him and so much that it has caused pain to him and his family. Would you forgive and deal with him again?
He smiled and said that I would deal with my own demons. Forgiveness comes after that. I have to fight with what has been triggered inside me rather than what’s outside me. Once I have settled what’s inside me and I have made peace with that, I have created love inside me for that then I have dealt with that. I do not need to handle that man, I have to handle my own pain by healing it with love.
So how do we do that?
First, we need to know, we receive more love than pain generally. How much space we have to give to what!
Second thing is, we need to know what’s important
Third thing, if revenge or harbouring the feeling of pain can help us and make us happy?
We also need to see, what we gained from that.
Next is we need to see, what will eventually give us peace.
Whenever we choose love over any darkness, we make the right choice. We will never have to doubt that.
