Few years back I was sitting next to sea and I tasted one drop of it. Then one more and like that few more. Every drop tasted same. So the whole ocean is same. If I need to know ocean, I do not need to know whole ocean, I can know only few drops and then I would know whole ocean. What an ocean has, it’s drop also has and whatever a drop has, the ocean also has. If i take out few drops and mix them back there would not be any difference.
But why were these thoughts coming to me I wondered.
While walking back, I saw a temple. Many people were busy doing something or worshiping in that. Many were standing in the queue also to wait for their turn to see the deity. I got my answer that we all are like drop of an ocean and what standing there is the ocean. We are not separated from the ocean. We all are inside the ocean. Few drops get here and there and then come back and there would be absolutely no difference as it would all be one ocean.
But then what makes us different and what makes us same. That is our awareness. If we know we are a part of this ocean, then we are the ocean and if we know that we are separated, we become a drop lying on a surface. The drop tries to find its surface and has no identity without its ocean, But then every drop of water has been given a property that it would like to get merged back into the ocean to become ocean again, same way, every soul has the property to go back and merge into the big ocean again. Some may take more time have bigger journey and some may take lesser time and have shorter journey. But the point is every soul has the tendency to travel back, craving to travel back and merge into the ocean. however, we also need to remember we always had and will have the properties of the ocean and we were never separated. The moment we know it, we become whole. Till the time we would like one drop out of ocean with no identity of its own.
