My mom always has time time with me. She gave birth to a girl, who wants to understand why of everything and if she does not like that answer, she just cannot abide by that. In this process of understanding why, I stopped celebrating most of the festivals, not because I am against festivals, they must be there, so that we can take a break from our monotonus life and can take out time for our loved ones. However, now the festivals are becoming rituals. My aunty was preparing for a festival and fast since morning and I asked her, what are you doing, she said, its Mangla Gauri puja today and I am fasting for her and preparing for the Puja. I asked her, who is Mangla Gauri, she did not have answer, she was totally blank, I asked her, why are you fasting, she did not reply, just ebcause she is told so. Now who is wrong here? I am not saying its wrong, but atleast understand the significance. I stopped celebrating Diwali long back which is the most important festival of Hindus. I am not against God or any festival, but what i realised, every time on this day, someone is arguing for something ebcaus ethey ahve to prepare for Puja, they do not care about hurting people, but do care about gifting..do not like servants to touch them, but want to please God, want to give something to poors and beggars but their hands shall not touch you…where is the spirit of festival in all this? Do you think you can make God happy, if you hurt the people made by him, everyone has same light inside. If you hurt a child, do you think his parents would be happy with you? Then how can God be happy? Do not celebrate festivals just for the sake of celebrating as they ahve been imposed upon you or to show your status…celebrate the spirit of festival.
