A few days back, I met a gentleman, who shared his story about giving and receiving. He shared that he used to give food, money and clothes to anyone and everyone who so ever came to him, asking for something. One day he started feeling that God has put so much pressure on him. He is supposed to take care of so many people. He cannot handle all of this. He wondered that if he should take care of own family or he shall take care of all these needy people. After few days he realized that no one had come to him asking for anything for many days. He felt very bad. So he took some food and money in his car so that he could give that to the needy and he did not find any. This continued happening for few days. He wondered what’s happening. How is it possible that he is unable to find anyone who needs money and food. Earlier people just used to walk to him for that. Then he recalled his own words and he sought forgiveness. He accepted his ego and mistake. Suddenly a small child came asking for food. He gave all he had to that child.
We cannot give until Universe/God is ready to accept from us. It’s our ego that says “I am giving.” In reality, no one is giving to anyone. It’s one who God who is present inside us who is giving and receiving both. When we give with a grateful heart, he accepts. When we give with ego, he does not take it. It’s like if someone is doing something for us and says obligatory words, we will say please do not oblige me so much and stop doing anything for me. So if we become full of ego, Universe also stops taking from us. So when we are giving, we shall be grateful that we have so much that we can share and Universe is accepting from us.
