His wife slipped into a huge depression. He wondered why. In 20 years of marriage he had always seen her so strong, taking care of everyone. He always thought, she was the strongest person around who could handle anything. Whenever anything happened, he always looked at her for strength. He never realized that during all those years, she also was going through own struggles. She also had many battles to fight which she did not share with anyone. She also faced many challenges which were hidden under her smile.
He started taking care of financial need of family after he got the job. The process was gradual. Then he got married and very soon his father got retired. So now, everything was on his shoulders. He was happily doing everything but soon he realized that everyone was cursing him for not supporting enough. If someone asked for more money and he could not provide, they cursed him. If he bought something for his child, everyone cursed him. If he went out for some time with his wife, they cursed him for not taking out everyone else. They did not realize that even after taking care of everyone, if this is what he was getting, how much it must be breaking him. His own wife said to him always that you should not have married and spoiled my life. he wondered what could he do to improve or what wrong he did.
Often strong people stay strong for too long. They are unable to share their pain with everyone else. Because they have been strong for too long, they become weak inside if there is no one to support them.
We all have such people around us. Who are pillar of strength for everyone in the family. Who are there for everyone when anyone needed them. But no one looked at the pain in their eyes. Please be there for those who have been there for you. Give them the support they need. listen to them. Hug them. Do not take them for granted. They can give only what they get. Give them love and strength too.
