No one is infallible, we all do mistakes. So many times We all are wrong about the notions we hold. However, we are unable to accept the point and keep defending our wrong point. Because somewhere our ego does not let us accept that we could be wrong too. However, the thing is if we do not accept our mistakes we would keep repeating same mistakes and the result would always be same.
Cowards try to hide mistakes as their super bloated ego cannot accept the thing that they were wrong and people were pointing finger at them. However, A brave would always accept his/her mistake, does not matter, what all others tell him and fix it, vowing never to repeat same mistake again. If we do that, then only we can move ahead, or else we would be beating around the bush and keep moving in circle around same point.
Ego is self destructive as it does not let you grow. So we need to keep aside our ego and have the vision which is free from ego and can take us ahead in life
