Few days back, I happened to meet a gentleman living with average life style. He was not living in poverty, nor he was living in a great materialistic abundance. He shared that he is able to manage his monthly expenses and that is more than enough. Suddenly the door bell rang and the watchman of the building came in. He said sir, I am not well, can I get some medicine? He smiled and said have you eaten something? The watchman said no. The gentleman asked his wife to prepare a cup of tea and along with that he gave him some breads and biscuits. The watchman ate that, already looked better with that, may be food worked or some love worked. After that he had his medicine, thanked the gentleman and left. The gentleman came back and smiled like he did not do anything great. Then he saw his maid without sweater and he asked her the reason. She said that she did not have a sweater and she is waiting for her salary to buy one. He immediately gave her some money and said that o and buy it today itself. It is not from salary. I was happy but wondered if he is always like this or he is just showing a better side. After finishing my work, when I stepped down, I asked the watchman if this gentleman is always like this. He said oh, he is and that is why I could walk upto his door. Infact everyone in the building knows him for his work and heart and it has also happened that others also have started helping servants because of him. Once a servant asked a help from his employer and he said no and then the servant said that I would go and take it from him. The employer felt bad and helped. The watchman added that it is not good to blackmail or get things done on condition but the servant was in dire need. His son was ill and he needed a small amount. He was crying and pleading but his employer kept saying, I do not trust you guys. Finally servant said that I am going to take it from him and since then many have started helping each other. But freely we can walk upto him only. This conversation filled up my heart with love and respect for the gentleman.
We do not need lots of money but yes we need a big heart to accept everyone in our lives. We need to accept things with love and yes money does flow in after that because God also knows that here it will be utilized properly. When we give even Rs 10 to someone, we want to make sure it goes in right hands and are we making sure we are making best use of money we have? People do not help others saying we are not sure, if it is going in right hand and we expect God to give us money without judging. How fair it is that? Give as much as you can and give with a loving heart and this is all we need. Have a heart to love.
