He is 40 and still single. His father was an abusive father. His father abused him, his sister and his mother. He had to take care of everyone. His father kept hitting him un till one day, he hit his father back. He worked hard and made a good life for himself that way. He was earning good and his sister was earning good too. He was able to provide a comfortable life to his mother too. But whenever he talked, he cursed his life. It reminded me of a story. A gentleman left home saying he will find God. He found an apple tree in the middle of a Jungle and started living by that praying and meditating. He would eat an apple and live under that tree and pray. He could never find what he was looking for. One day he broke down and started crying. He asked God, that why God was not coming to him. He had been so dedicated, left his home, ate an apple and lived in a Jungle. God appeared and asked, how do you think, you got an apple every day? Have you ever realized, there must be something making sure that you have an apple? Something must be taking care of you. Till the time, you can’t see what’s being done for you, you can never see who is doing it for you and till that time you can never find any God inside yourself or around you.
He had so many problems but he could create a good life for himself. If he compared it with others, he felt his life was bad. But he compared with people he wanted to compare with. there were many, he did not have as much as he had. Second thing, when he compared, he compared the aspects he wanted to. What if they had other problems which he did not have. May be some health issues, financial issues, etc. So instead of looking at others’ lives and then at his own, he should have looked at his own life and appreciate what’s there. Everyone would have a part of life which is good and a part which is challenging. It’s like one full day will have night and daylight both. We need accept and appreciate everything.
He did and realized that he was in good shape. And that is how happiness arrives. Most importantly, whatever way we are thinking and feeling, our life expands that.
So appreciate all you have. Life is how you look at it.
