Her house was perfect. Everything was at its place. Everything look cleaned. It was like someone was ready to take picture on time. Kids came running from school and suddenly became very silent. Silently they went to the room, making sure nothing is disturbed. She felt very proud. When her husband came home, he wanted to sit on the sofa but then pulled a chair for two minutes, kept it back and then went to the room. The house looked so perfect. She felt very proud of that house and herself. On the dinner table, everyone was silent. No one spoke. Everyone was perfect in manners. We shall not talk while eating food. Everyone kept the plate in the sink and went to the room silently. She told me that it has taken lots of efforts to train everyone, I am sure. But then one day she called up, she said that her son is abusing her. He said that she was never available for him. She tried talking to her husband and he ignored her. Finally he said, he has learned to be silent. When she forced him to talk, he said, her house is perfect!
She realized that everything was perfect. Everything looked like some magazine cover. But then she forgot to love her kids and husband. She did not realize that kids were meant to break things. She did not realize that her husband was supposed to come home and sit on sofa and watch TV asking for a cup of tea. She did not realize that she had to create a home which was full of love not a magazine picture house. So she asked what she could do? I took her to a friends place who had a full house. So her 4 years old daughter spilled water and laughed. So the friend asked her to behave and put the glass in the sink. The girl came back and hugged her mom saying I love you. She was laughing. The girl was saying sorry in the form of I love you making sure her mom does not get angry. They both hugged each other and giggled. Her husband came home and kept his bag at its place. He sat on the sofa without worrying about anything. He asked for tea and asked how was his wife’s day. HE spilled some tea on the table and looked at his wife. She smiled and said it’s fine, it will be cleaned. He piked up some snacks spilling some crumbs here and there. He was relaxed and happy. He was laughing. And said he cannot imagine a home without his wife.
So when we came back, the lady asked, what did she do wrong? Why everyone in her family not loved her the way they loved that lady. She said that I have spent so much time and energy in giving them a better life. But still? Well, it did not need to be perfect. It had to be full of love. They did not want a perfect looking house, she wanted one. They wanted a mother who was with them. Her husband wanted a wife, who could hold his head in her lap when he came back from office. Everyone wanted love.
