One 23 years old girl came. She was going through depression. She had pimples on her face and had extra weight. She said that she did not like herself or let’s say she hated herself. Her body weight, her complexion and everything about her physical appearance were making her depressed. She finally said the words, no one likes me!
So I asked her, do you like yourself? She said no!
So how can you expect others to like you?
But with such type of physical appearance, how can I like myself?
By accepting yourself the way you are.
But with such body type how can I accept myself the way I am?
How do you know it’s a bad body type? She thought over and realized it’s because of what media has projected and what she has heard from others. She set a few benchmarks. Like fair complexion, to look a certain way, to wear a certain way and if she was not wearing things a certain way, she felt she did not look good and fashion pro.
So she started working on accepting herself with love.
One simple exercise she did. Instead of looking at herself in the mirror and saying what’s wrong, she sat and closed her eyes. With every breath she inhaled she said I accept myself as I am. With every breath she released. she said I am beautiful.
Soon her insecurities disappeared. She felt better about herself. When she felt better, she realized her pimples anyway started disappearing. Further more, even others started complimenting her about her improved personality. She wondered what changed and then realized, it’s her thought process which had changed. When she was feeling bad about herself others too. When she started loving her body and being grateful for it, others also told her same.
After that she started working on her strengths. She started telling herself, what was good with her. She realized as she was progressing in her thoughts for her body, others view also progressed.
We all are given a body type, including a skinny body and an obese body. We need to accept everything as a gift. It is given for our soul as a vehicle. First purpose is Karma rather than how do you look or how do you pereceive. Accept your body with love and you will be able to accept others also with love.
