We were collecting amount to distribute
blankets in winters. We went to meet a gentleman who lives in a decent house
and has a decent living. We have seen him going for lavish dinners and night
outs. He simply said that I am not earning enough to share much. He gave a
small amount. It is a good that he could share whatever he could. However, what
moved my heart is that maid servant did not take her few days of salary and
asked to contribute that towards the cause. She said, I cannot give much but I
want to share from whatever I have. I asked her, would she have problem at her
house in buying food and all for few days, she said that she would manage. I am
not comparing as we cannot. Sometimes, we feel we do not have enough and that
is why we cannot share. But in reality we share from whatever we have. Our
needs will always outgrow our earnings. We would never feel we are earning
enough. If our income increases, our expenses also increase proportionately. If
we would wait for the perfect time that we would earn so much that we are
unable to spend and then we would share, in that scenario, we would always keep
waiting for the perfect time. However, if we start sharing from what we have
and where we are, then we can share every day and every time. While writing
this, it has made me recall an incidence while meeting Jain Gurus. I do not
visit any type of Gurus mostly, however, when I was small, my mother used to
take me around. Jain Gurus go to their disciple’s place to ask for food and
they take share from whatever is cooked for the family. Their first question is
have you cooked anything especially for us? And when the answer is no, then
only they take. Their concept is, if you have made one bread, you can share
from that or if you have 10 breads, you can share from that. How, people are
following is a separate question, however, purpose is penance and sharing.

We do not need large source of incomes
to share, we need a heart to share. Share from whatever you have and you would
sleep with a peaceful heart. If you are earning 1000 share from that and if you
are earning 100000 share from that. If a maid servant could share from her
salary, we all have the scope to share. Her heart is large enough to see the
pain of someone who got lesser than her. Most of the times in life, we keep
looking at what we do not have instead of what we have. To see life like this
creates a feeling of lack. However, when we start sharing we realize that we so
much that we can share too instead of feeling, I am not earning enough to
share. So be grateful for what you have and share as much as you can. It is not
about Karma, it is about the love which we have inside our hearts which is
waiting to be unlocked.
