My mother used to share a story when I was small. It is from Bhagwadgita. Now, the beauty of these books is, in one story they have thousands of stories to learn from. So once all the members of Swarg (Heaven) were discussing that human beings have a big ego and humans are designed to see lesser side of something. So Indra said that but our Krishna is not designed like that. After arguing for sometime, they decided to come to Earth to test. Indra took a form of an ill dark dog, who was housed by many bugs and was sitting in a mire. So Krishna happened to cross him with Pandavas. Everyone started talking, how bad he looked, how sick he looked, how dirty he was and many more things. Krishna was silent and every one looked at him for comment. Krishna smiled and said that see his teeth are so beautiful. As he said that, Indra came in his original form and bowed to him. When Indra left, Krishna told everyone few things:
1. Everyone and everything is created by me and has my presence.
2. Does not matter how bad anything becomes, it would always have my presence.
3. What we have inside, we see around us. An angry person would see anger, an egoist would see ego. A person with beautiful heart would see beauty.
4. It is our ego which makes us see things which are not good as per us. From the eyes of love everything is perfect and divine.
5. It is upto us and our perspective, what we want to see.
6. Often we are trained to see bad things, which gives a boost to our ego as it tells us we are better. But we can make a conscious decision to see better things.
7. What we are we would see. What we would see we would become.
