One gentleman came over to meet. His first question was, how can I be happy!
Just be happy!
Is it that simple? Yes, it is.
But I am unable to. So everyone asks, what will make you happy, let me ask, whats holding you back. What’s making you unhappy? He thought for a while and shared his office worries, then some relationship issues and few more things. So nothing big as such. he accepted yes. So when was the last time you were happy? He thought for a while and the recalled few moments when he was totally relaxed and was on a holiday. So at that time, you did not have relationship issues? He said they were there but he was so relaxed and happy within himself that nothing mattered. Infact because he was so happy that everything else started settling down. Exactly!
All these things have problems because you are not happy within yourself. If you are happy within yourself then everything else will be good. But how can I be?
Do you love yourself? The answer was I do not know! How can I? I have so many shortcomings. I have done few bad things. And if I start accepting myself as I am, wouldn’t I stop growing in life? Why so? How are these two things related?
We all have been told similar things. But let me ask you a question? In what circumstances a child would grow up to be more stable and a better individual. A child who is nurtured with love or constantly criticised? Who would love his family and home more? Who would grow up to be a better human? I guess the answer is clear! Why do we think it’s different for an adult. The simple thing is that we keep waiting for others to do that. BUt as we grow, there are no others. First it has to start from within. We need to accept our whole being with all the love we have like we accept own child and nurture it with love and then we will see how happy we feel. We will become as happy and carefree as a child after that because our required nourishment is given at that time.
So he had to take a pledge, not to criticise himself which stopped him for others too. He had to constantly motivate himself and love himself. He felt that change. He felt happier and this is what we all have to do.
