Humans are funny. We are very good at absorbing negativity and very bad at releasing positivity and how can we do that? When we are absorbing negativity, how can we release positivity? If someone says something we feel bad for whole day or may be even for days. If we see something bad, we keep talking about it with so many people. If someone has acted nasty, we want to tell it to everyone we know and who is ready to hear us out. So much of energy we spend on absorbing and dealing with this negativity. What if we start spending this energy in whats good in us, how we can use it better and how we can bring it out more? First it will shift our focus on what’s good inside us and we will be doing better in life as our better sides will start coming out. It will also help us in seeing other’s positive sides as well.
Few days back, met a gentleman. When I was sitting with him, so many times in conversation, he was talking about how something could be used better or what are it’s quality. Starting from any thing in his house to office, any other resources, his employees, and then he he also talked about what more he could do and how it could be better. I was impressed! Then I asked him about his attitude and he shared that how he realised that he was wasting too much energy.He was one of the biggest critic and he would be happy in pointing out anyone’s mistake. He always felt proud in doing so. One day he realised that he was sitting and people were avoiding conversation with him and they were leaving with one or other excuse. It happened couple of times. Soon he realised that it was happening because of his criticism and people feel lesser in front of him or he brought out their lesser side. BUt why would anyone want that. We all have some lesser side or weaker side. We all want to know what is our strength and what good is there. Then he started working on this. Making people stronger by focusing on strength rather than making them weaker.
So Focus on good rather than bad.
