After being with him for seven years, his girlfriend left him saying I have never known someone else. So I do not know if you are perfect for me. After few days he got to know that she was already with someone else saying he is better than you. He could not believe and started slipping into a state of self criticism and eventually into depression. He stopped working and would behave badly with everyone. Gradually he reached to a stage where he stopped talking to people and then started blaming himself further that i do not know how to maintain my relationships. He kept finding reasons in himself for which probably she might would have left him which means finding more and more reasons to put himself down.
It had been four years, where he had stopped looking at himself into the mirror and no one knew what to do. His family reached out for a professional help and he started talking to his counsellor. The first thing which the counsellor did was to look into the mirror and smile. He started looking at himself, where he realized that he has started looking aged as he hasn’t maintained himself. So shaved and went for some therapies. After few therapies, he started looking better and he realized he always looked good. It’s just that he stopped looking at himself, he started looking bad. This realization helped him in realizing he has stopped looking at himself in many ways. He started looking at all his strengths, all his qualities, what all good things he had done in life, for that girl and many things. He asked himself a question, if same things someone else had been doing, what would he call him, and the answer was, what a man! He is so wonderful!. That’s it, he found his answer. He started telling himself everyday, I am so wonderful. He recovered very fast. He was a happier and much stronger man within few days.
Tell yourself I am wonderful!
Do not get into self criticism.
You do not have to do something special to become special. You are already special. You are a wonderful creation, You are a master piece. You are created by biggest master. You do not need any other stamp on your creation. Just a realization of this is enough.
