Whenever I have a workshop on leadership skills, this is the first thing I need to tell. We all are born natural leaders and we all have the qualities and if we do not have some qualities, we can cultivate them. Why do we have two sects where one is followed and one is following? The people who are following admire the follower whether they accept it or not and somewhere want to be like him or want to see themselves in their place or if they do not do it by choice, they do it out of compulsion and crib. Why is it that we have two different pedestals?
The person who is in front has a vision and has an identity of his own. He knows what he is and he knows what he is doing. When you are clear about your actions, you have a clear direction and who still have not found that direction has to follow him as they do not know where to go so they have a compulsion to follow who is giving them directions. I am not talking about leadership positions in the corporate world which are given as per work arrangements, I am talking about the leaders who emerge out of every adversity. We have so many examples in the history. Today we say we do not have any leaders, why is it so, because no one is having clear direction so how can anyone give direction to others. So everyone is a part of the herd. When you do not know who you are as an individual, you became a sheep and a part of the herd. You just move around in herd and you never dare to step out of that because you are afraid you would get lost without the directions.
However, once you find your own directions, you decide your path, you become the leader as rest of the herd would follow you as they know that you have the directions and you are capable of taking them to some path. Even if no one follows you, you atleast do not have to follow anyone else. You are not a sheep that you have to stay in the herd, you are born as an individual and you are destined to establish your individuality. If you stay in the herd, you are losing your destiny. You need to become yourself and you will always be ahead of everyone else.
