Have always heard..honesty is the best policy…and you should study honestly..work honestly..live honestly..one of the biggest virtues we are taught is honesty…working honestly depends on your integrity…if you are not honest..people would not like to deal with you, they would not like to work with you and they would not like to be with you. You would not like, if someone comes and tells you, you are a dishonest person, however, inside u know what is the truth…when someone tells you the truth you do not like it…I was discussing with one gentleman about the idea of a new book and he was very impressed with the idea…2 days I had a meeting with the publisher for another book and this gentleman was also there..he told the publisher that he is working upon the very idea which he had discussed with me claiming his in front of the publisher…now he knows from where did he start this but if I tell him on his face about the dishonesty he wouldn’t like it, infact, no one would like it, he is trying to convince himself that it is his idea but he also knows it is not…he is lying to himself and same way he is lying to me and everyone else too..may be everyone would accept him but he also knows what is the truth…
We all have a great tendency to evaluate self from others perspective and we worry too much about what would others think of me and we want everyone to think good about us, we want to impress everyone and in doing that we create a person which does not exist and then start a life of fallacies, we try to defend that image and we lie to self and we lie to everyone else too. First you need to accept yourself the way you are, stay honest with the self, because if you are not honest with the self, you do not accept who you are, how can you be honest to anyone else too? Do not try to create justifications for the voice which rises inside you because that is the voice of honesty and you snub that with your dishonesty. If you want to live the life of integrity and honesty, first you need to become honest with the self.
