Since the time we are born we are fed with ego, this is yours, this is yours, everyone talks about I me myself and the child learns same. Now why to blame child if he she grows up with ego. When we grow up, we become small and this ego becomes big, I keep saying this ego is so fragile that it needs constant protection and constant nourishment and we being a loyal servant of ego keep doing that or else our master would stop existing or would start losing its power, we feel that if our ego is losing power we are losing power and the way we are conditions, we think ego is main, but the truth is ego keeps overpowering us keeps the real self small, because the ego knows once the real you would become strong, ego would have no place.
All the time we have two main services, whenever we are dealing with people, either we try to look good or we try to avoid looking bad, though it is different that what others think is in our hand and inside we remain happy that I have done my job of looking good. If that was not enough, we start comparing inside that who is better in what regard. All the time we keep comparing and this keeps feeding ego and it keep growing bigger. This ego is so clever that it over powers us in every aspect of life, we dont care about relations, we dont care about friends, we dont care about people and their emotions, we dont care what we are losing to protect ego..all the time we just keep protecting ego, we do not like listening against our master and that is how a loyal servant should be. So decide if you really want to be your own master, then do not be a servant of your ego, let it die and then you would enjoy the real freedom.
