There is a rat race. Everyone wants degrees and more and more degrees. Why, may be I would get a good job or a higher pay package. Everyone wants to have a security of life and we are most insecure about life. Whatever we plan and save, still life does not happen as per our plan, it hits us hard when we are least prepared. Anyway, I do not want to talk about our insecurities. What I want to stress upon is the purpose of education. What does education mean and why it is important. Education is to educate about our life and to impart an information which can help us in our lives. It is to provide us a skill also so that we are equipped to handle life. However, its not only the skill which we gain after gaining learning some information, education is much wider. It is to give us an over all perspective of life. It helps us to gain a wisdom of life. It is supposed to help us in developing ourselves internally and externally and if that doesnt happen then either we have failed in imparting education or in taking that education. But the gap is there. These days, everywhere, it is becoming more like a skill and after that there is no wisdom. Just knowledge doesnt help in life. The wisdom needs to be applied too. people are in rat race to get more degrees as per which profession is in high demand these days and are churning out more salaries. 15 Years back, people were entering into IT field just because it had more salaries and jobs. I did not have understanding of same at that time and I felt it is right too. But I wonder who bothered to match, if the person who is taking IT, actually is an engineer by mind or not? I had taken bio medical science as my father wanted me to be a doctor. iw as good in Physics and Biology, but chemestry was like a puzzle for me. Anyway then I did MBA, and now I am into counselling people. So may be actually i should have done phychology. I was more apt for that. These days, I find kids going to schools with very high fees, having lots of amenities but when it comes to being a human, they have no values. They are more full of ego, insecure and want more and more. They can have more and more but along with that they are not taught they need to learn to give also. The things dont happen one way. I again want to say that the purpose of education is to give us wisdom and a vision about life. Its not about gaining a skill only. If its not fullfilling its purpose, the education system is failing itself.
