It’s a famous story from Mahabharata. Bheem started feeling he is the most powerful of all. He was the strongest of all. So he was taking a walk in a big park and he saw an old but big monkey lying on the ground which blocked his way. Bheem asked him to move aside so that he could continue walking. The monkey said that i am old, why don’t you move my tail aside and you will have your way. Bheem tried and he could not. he kept trying until he realized, there is something else behind this. He bent down and asked his hand folded, who are you gracious one. You cannot be a normal one. The monkey was Lord hanuman and he had come to Bheem to help him realize that God is the biggest. if someone has strength, it is his grace. We are nothing in front of him. It was enough for Bheem to realize his mistake and surrender to love and faith.
Why it is important for God to shatter the egos of the ones he loves and who have put his faith in him and surrendered. Well, there is nothing about ego here, it is all about love. God shatters the ego, so as to protect us from darkness. When we follow ego, we go away from him. Ego creates the duality. It tells are we are something and that something means different from God. But when we follow love, we realize the oneness. We realize that God is within us. We are not separate. We are one. We are closer to our trueself. And when we follow ego, we may end up far away from reality and engulfed by darkness. People have fought war to protect ego. People have done worst things to protect ego. Ego has become the reason for the fall of empires and kings. Ego brings in darkness from which no one can protect.
So people have faith, who surrender and who follow love will know what is the reality. they will know the force behind everything happening and when we know that force, we cannot have ego and we can have love, when we realize, how much he is taking care of us and how much he is doing to protect us.
