I meet three kinds of people. One who always set goals, one used to set when they were small, and one who has never set goals. People who used to set when they were small, grow midway, people who have never set goals, they grow least and the ones who always keep setting their goals, grow maximum. When someone comes to me around the age of retirement, and they feel lost, I ask them about their goal and the next thing is they have not thought. They used to set goals when they were small, but now when they are old, they did not. So the next question is, did you achieve what you had set for yourself and the answer is, yes and more than that. Then what happened after that? When I grew up, I stopped setting up any goals. I got buy with life.
The one’s who have been setting up now also, even at the age of 50-60, they get what they want, they have the path which they would like to choose.
So what make it different if we have goals? ISn’t it the destiny etc.
Destiny plays a role but it is not defining every moment and then our Karma is above all. Setting up the goals and right intention is a part of karma. Without that, our actions lack direction and energy. But with right intentions and goals, our actions and energy get a direction.
For example, you want to go to someplace and travel, and you do not know where. Someone leaves you in an open ground with a car full of petrol, what would you do? Either you need to figure out where you are going and head towards that or you would keep going in circles, exhaust your petrol and come back without reach anywhere and this is exactly what happens when we do not have goals. But when we know where we have to reach, we reach there and we save the fuel , time and energy too.
Ask your children every day, what’s their goal. What are they planning. Ask them to see themselves being successful in that. Steer their mind to what they want in life and let them achieve too.
