A gentleman had lots of health issues. When one was solved, another one was coming. Then he started having problems with his wife and then his children also seemed to question him and treat him badly. He wondered where did he go wrong?

Q: How can we have a good life. Aren’t we creating a life with our thoughts?

Yes we are.

Q: Then I never created a painful life for me. Why is this all happening to me?

A: Let’s go to the kitchen and prepare something to eat. (He wondered why I was doing that in the middle of the discussion. Anyway he followed).

He says, I want to eat Mater paneer. (Peas and cottage cheese in Indian gravey)

I start gathering the ingredients like spinach, curd, potato, some lentils and beans and I ask him if he we could start. He looked at me with amusement.

He asked, you have lots of things but cheese and peas. So how can we prepare Matar paneer?

I told him, see we have the intention of preparing Matar Paneer. But that shall do it all. Shan’t it?

But without the ingredient, how is it possible?

Exactly! You have the intention of having a good life but where are the ingredients. You are asking, why is it happening to you. But deep down, we all know, where have we gone wrong. Would you like to share? He shared few things which he knew had done wrong.

But then I asked him, have you done good things to create a good life? Neutral Karma will bring neutral life. Bad one’s will bring bad life, but to have a good one, we need to really follow some good karma.

What are good karma?

When we do bad to others, it’s a bad karma. But when we do good for others, it’s a good karma. Honesty, truth, work and all these are neutral karma which we all have to follow. But good karma needs us to step out of comfort zone and help others, do something for others.

How do we do that?

Our intentions start moving the things. If you set your intentions genuinely, it will really start setting the tone. He did and as soon as he stepped out, he saw a homeless child. He wondered what was happening. He took that child for food and then bought some clothes for him. He wondered if that was enough because he would be hungry again and then these clothes would be torn again. He contacted an orphanage and paid his monthly charges. He also promised to pay for the child’s education and stay till he would turn 18. That’s when he really felt peaceful.
