Met a lady at a party. She stepped down from a very expensive car, gave perfect instructions to her driver, then she carried her purse like a lady and everyone was talking about her and her life style. How she has managed her expensive home, how her choices were so royal and how her children were studying in the best school. Everyone was praising her and also, some felt jealous. Everyone also said that how she was so perfect as a wife. How she made a perfect couple with her husband. I was just watching. And then she sat on a chair and looked at her phone and looked worried. I asked her if every thing was ok, and then she hesitated. We came out, and she shared that the kind of problems she was facing with her husband and how no one should know. I asked her if she was happy, and she started crying. She shared that whole day she was stressed and every day she has fight with her husband. Her 20 years old son slapped her three days back and if she would not have stopped him, he would have punched her. I was listening and I was shocked. I asked her, who is physically abusive at home and she shared that many times in her fight with her husband they both get physically abusive. They throw things at each other and they hit each other. That explained her son’s behavior. Her husband says that she was always more worried about the society and a perfect home and she did not care about him. And she said that for was she doing everything? Wasn’t he enjoying the status and the perfect home? And then the big question came. Do you love each other and the answer was no. They were together for the society. Despite of having everything they felt nothing was there. And then she said that even God was not helping her anywhere.
If we do not have love and we have everything else, we have nothing and we will always be hungry. It is like someone is very hungry and he starts wrapping up food around the stomach. Would he ever feel satisfied? Love feeds our soul and with love we can understand everything. With love we can understand what is other’s pain, what is a relationship and with love we can pass through everything in life. And God! Well, he is love. Without love, God can never be present, does not matter how many customs we follow. If we have love, our soul is satisfied. Rest everything satisfies the body, It is like in a temple, we fill up everything expect the idol of God. Who would go there and worship? Will it ever become a temple? Same way, without love, our soul is missing. There is no atma and parmatama in that. This is just a physical body in that case. We need to see what is more important.
