God has helped me by helping through me.

I have always believed in service and unconditional service. I grew up hearing stories of Karna and Bali. I grew up hearing about Kabir. I have always thought that without giving and serving others we can never grow in life. Also that when we help, God has chosen to help through us. We have never helped anyone. So never to let that get into ego. But sometimes, different times give us an opportunity to evaluate. During these times of Corona and lockdown, many people lost their jobs and lower section of the society did not even have enough to feed and live. I felt blessed all the way that we had enough always. Tried helping whenever someone came for help. But then what bothered me was that no one called up otherwise and they did not ask if they had to return. Everyone just disappeared. But don’t we do the same with God. Then one phone call made me realize, how I was handling it from my mind and it was against everything I was standing for. One lady, who used to work for me earlier few years back, had called up few months back when the lockdown had started. She asked for help and generously I helped. When she called up again yesterday, I was rude to her and taunted that how she never called up in between. When I kept down the phone, I realized and I realized that how much ego it was. I called her up again and apologised. I wonder what would have been my reaction if someone was rude to me and I was in need. I spoke to her with genuine love and helped her again where ever I could. this time she did not need money, she wanted if I could help her in any employment. I circulated her number and she got one job. I thanked God for choosing me to help her. Who am I to help her?

I would never want to be in a position where I am feeling i have given something to someone, where I feel I have helped someone. Because I know the bigger truth. He has helped me by helping through me. No one has helped anyone. No one is helping anyone. So why to hold the ego. I remember the story from Mahabharata. Barbarik’s head (Bhim’s grandson) watched the entire battle from the hill top and he said that the entire battle was fought by krishna. He was doing everything. So here also, the entire battle we are fighting everyday is fought by him not you, me or anyone else. So when you give, be grateful. When you receive be grateful. See his love in everything. And spread that love.
