I met a gentleman after a few years. He had totally changed. He cared for his family now, he wanted to do everything for his children and society, he was doing all he could for his business, and he had quit alcohol. Our friendship goes 20 years back. And we were talking after a gap of two years. But before that, he was facing a very tough time financially, with his wife and in terms of health too. I asked him what changed him?
He said that pain happened. He was going through lots of pain, and he was blaming everyone. He blamed his wife, his father, and uncle for not supporting him in his business, his friends who, kind of instigated him to have alcohol, and his children for not respecting him enough. He was in pain but nothing worked. But then he realized he was blaming everyone, but he was not accepting his own responsibility. HE realized that all this pain which he was going through for years could go if he took charge of his life. Everyone was doing whatever they could, but he was not doing enough. So he made all the changes and then gradually everything was working. He quit alcohol, started supporting his wife, supported his son to start some new establishment, he was supporting few charities every month, and he said that he had never felt happier and better in life. His business also started working and he was able to think better. He wondered if all the pain was to make him better and train him for a better life.
And the answer is yes, When we have pain, we know how to handle it. We know what others are going through, and we know how to help others from that pain. Pain always comes with a reason. We need to learn from it. We keep suffering until we learn from it. Pain is inevitable in life. But if we do not learn from it, we keep suffering. If we learn, we stop suffering. We grow from it. We become better and stronger. So whatever pain you have, instead of blaming or cursing others, learn from it. You will blossom like a lotus flower. It looks beautiful amidst the pain of mud and that smell. because it has learned to blossom despite having endured all the surroundings.
