Question: I have been helping people. But still they talk bad about me. I have done so much for everyone. Still I am living alone and my family has left me.
Answer with a question: Why did you help people?
BEcause I wanted to help and I like it when I help.
Why do you like it?
I feel they would feel obliged and they would talk about me.
So you helped, so that they can talk good about you rather than to help?
YES! But then it is not a good intention. Bhagwad Gita says, anything which is done to gain praises and inflate the ego, is of the lowest category of karma and the result also will be of the lowest category. You have not done any bad to anyone, so nothing bad will happen to you but the result also will not be what you expected.
So what shall I do?
Simple, when you help, just help.
Question from another lady: I have done so much for my mother-in-law, but still she is not happy and talks bad about me.
What have you done for her?
When I cook something nice, I send it for her.
Send it? MEans? She is not living with you?
No, she lives alone in the next house. As we could not connect well.
So you send her something nice as you feel guilty because you are not fulfilling your duties which yuou should have done or you send her thinking that she would like it?
Guilty as caught. To overcome guilt!
Take care of her from heart not to prove but to care.
One teacher asked regarding another teacher: She is so loved. She scolds the kids, she is so strict with them but all the kids love her. They are ready to fight for her. How come she has received so much love?
Answer: Have you seen how a child loves his/her mother so much? Though a mother shouts at a child, slaps also and is very strict. Still, the child loves his mother most. Why? Because she has the purest of intentions for the child. Whatever she is doing, she is holding the best interest of the child. She does not worry about what would the child think, she only thinks of the best for the child. Same way, this teacher is doing.
Hold your best intentions and you will see everything falling into place.
