My friend who has two hyperactive boys shared her experience. They went to Iskon Temple. There they had Prasadam. When they came back, her kids were very peaceful. They did not fight or run after each other. She was wondering what is the reason. Then she observed this on a couple of more occasions. Every time the same thing happened. Also, whenever they ordered food from outside and ate junk, they were further hyperactive. So she shared that their behavior always reminded her of the statement which we all have heard in the childhood, “जैसा खाओगे अन्न, वैसा होगा मन्न!”.
She understood the pattern but her question was, how can she create this environment at home? How can she create peace in the food she is cooking at home.
We all must have experienced this. Whenever food is cooked for some auspicious occasion, even with the simplest of ingredients it comes out better. Like for some puja or Havan. This concept is famous in all religions. In Sikhs, they say that Lagar food is always tasty and divine. My mother in law, who was a follower of Islam also said similar thing for the food, cooked in Ramzan and the first meal after Ramzan.
So what’s special in all these foods?
Feeling of love and surrender. that is why food cooked by the mother is so famous. She cooks with a lot of love for her children.
So how can we do this at home?
Everything starts setting our intention.
So start from choosing the right and healthy ingredients. It will add on to the intention to nourish. This will create a healthy body which means a happy body.
Set a blessing and prayer before you cook.
See everyone happy and peaceful after eating.
Cook with a happy and peaceful mind. It will carry your vibrations.
Nourish your mind and body!
